The CM-414 is a
large dual diaphragm, 3-pattern fet microphone based on the famous AKG 414
design and specifications.
The Advanced Audio CM-414 features a very accurate yet smooth 34mm capsule with
6 micron thick German mylar diaphragms. This capsule has a frequency response
within 2 db of the AKG C12 capsules used in the C12 and early 414 microphones.
This is the same capsule used in our popular CM12.
The CM414 uses a 2-stage class “A” similar to the original 414. The fet is
buffered by a discrete transistor before it is coupled into the output
transformer which is superior to the Neumann U87 single fet circuit.
The 414 has a very smooth response up to 8khz where the response starts to rise
up about 4db at 15khz adding a “airy” quality to the sound.
Our CM414 has a -10db pad, LF roll-off and 3-patterns switch on the body.
