The case and capsule design is based on the rugged KM-54. The Advanced Audio CM-54 features a super-clean class “A” fet amplifier circuit coupled to a discrete transformeless “Schoeps” output circuit. This provides a very rugged condenser microphone circuit which is extremely transparent and has very low self-noise. The CM-54 has a -10db/-20db pad switch plus a 75hz/150hz low frequency roll-off switch located at the microphone. This makes the CM-54 a very useful microphone for recording any high transient studio instruments such as drums, percussion and piano. The CM-54 is also well suited for most live recording applications and is supplied in a sturdy aluminum road case.
