The CM-47 is a large dual diaphragm, multi-pattern, tube condenser microphone based on the famous Neumann U-47 design and specifications. The Advanced Audio CM-47 features a very accurate yet smooth 35mm capsule with 6 micron thick German mylar diaphragms. This capsule has a frequency response within 2 db of the Neumann K47 mylar capsules used in all U47 tube microphones built after 1961. The 6072 tube circuit has an optimized 2-stage class “A” design that provides a lower output impedance with more headroom than the circuit used in the original U47. The lower output impedance provides a fast damping factor when driving the BV8 type transformer. This dual bobbin output transformer with it hum bucking feature and our optimized circuit will deliver +20dbu with less than 1% distortion. The output transformer is driven with a 2.2 ufd metal film capacitor to take advantage of the transformers response down to 10hz.
