The CM-47 is a large dual diaphragm tube condenser microphone based on the famous Neumann/Telefunken U-47 design and specifications.
The Advanced Audio CM-47 features a very accurate Peluso CEK-367, 1.07 capsule with 6 micron German mylar diaphragms. This capsule has a frequency response within 1 db of the Neumann K47 mylar capsules used in U47 tube microphones built after 1961.
The 6072a circuit has been upgraded by us to provide a lower output impedance with slightly more headroom than the vf14 circuit used in the original U47. Yet this circuit it able to provide a faster transient response when driving the authentic BV8 dual bobbin output transformer wound to the original Telefunken blueprints.
The BV8 output transformer will deliver +24dbm with less than 1% distortion. The BV8 transformer is driven with a 1.5ufd mylar capacitor to take advantage of the transformers response down to 7hz.
Selected 6072a tubes are some of the quietest preamp tubes made and much less susceptible to microphonics than the metal clad vf14 and ef14 tubes used in the original U47 tube microphones
